Rabbi Yossi & Mrs. Goldie Grossbaum
Rabbi Yossi and Goldie Grossbaum arrived in Folsom in 2007 to establish the Chabad Jewish Community Center, serving Folsom, El Dorado Hills, and the surrounding region.
Since then, they’ve helped build a growing Jewish community through educational programs, holiday celebrations, Shabbat gatherings, and countless personal connections. Their goal has remained the same: to make Jewish life accessible, meaningful, and welcoming to every Jew, regardless of background or level of observance.
Rabbi Yossi Grossbaum
Born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, Rabbi Yossi studied in Melbourne, Toronto, and New York, receiving his rabbinic ordination from the Central Lubavitcher Yeshiva in 2004.
Before moving to Folsom, he was involved in Jewish education and outreach, including helping establish JNet, a program connecting people around the world for one-on-one Torah study.
Rabbi Yossi enjoys teaching and finding ways to make Jewish wisdom relevant to everyday life. In addition to leading Chabad’s educational and community programs, he provides pastoral counseling, visits people in hospitals and care facilities, and assists individuals and families through life’s celebrations and challenges.
He also works with the Aleph Institute, providing religious support and advocacy for Jewish individuals in detention and other challenging circumstances.
Rabbi Yossi shares his thoughts on Jewish life, current events, Torah insights, and the occasional dose of Jewish humor on his Substack, Rabbi Yossi Grossbaum.

At Home in Folsom
Rabbi Yossi and Goldie are the proud parents of eleven children. Over the years, they’ve had the privilege of getting to know hundreds of local families, sharing in their celebrations, supporting them through difficult times, and watching the community grow.
With plans underway for a new synagogue and community center, they’re excited about the future of Jewish life in the region.
Whether you’re new to the area, looking to reconnect with your Jewish roots, or simply interested in meeting other Jewish people, Rabbi Yossi and Goldie would love to hear from you.
